Pintek officially moved to Noon - 3

Pittsburgh:

For the last several weeks listeners to KDKA-AM (1020) have heard Mike Pintek filling the Noon - 3 p.m. daypart left empty by the late Fred Honsberger. Today, the station officially named Pintek to the time slot effective immediately. With the move, Pintek - who started at KDKA in 1982 as a news anchor/reporter - has now served in every daypart on the station.

For the last year, Pintek has been heard from 6 - 10 p.m. on "Pintek Tonight" - the position he took when he returned to the station after several years off the air at KDKA. The station will soon announce plans for the evening slot.

At least it’s five fewer hours of Pintek a week.

No surprise here. Part of me would love to have Mike Pintek back in the evening slot. He was always a thoughtful, intelligent interviewer and did an impressive amount of show prep that really came through as a well thought out and informative show.

The only time I ever had a problem with Pintek was when he parrotted President Reagan’s claim (1986) that no one in the U.S. was going hungry. Other than that, he is a conservative who isn’t rude, ignorant or dismissive. He’s definitely not a Glenn Beck.

Good choice by the Big 1020! He does a good job…much better then what one would hear on 104.7 from 12-3pm! I caught the tail end of his show today about Peta abd the groundhog stuff. I hope they stay live at night…Dimitri or maybe Uncle Douggie would make a good fit.

First, Congratulations Mike….!
You were and always will be a part of what makes KDKA Radio great. I’ll miss Fred, but this is a great move…...The Fox, Cigna, Marshall Team is what made KD great in the evenings years ago…...what about Pratte, Romie, Hoerth…May make KDKA unbeatable again….Pittsburghers like local show’s with local hosts…

My thoughts exactly – bring back Doug Hoerth for the evening slot. Pittsburgh needs their local hosts! Also enjoying Dimitri filling in at nights. He gives it a different spin.

I wish people would quit pining for Uncle Dougie. I agree, he’s very good and would love to hear him on the air again. But I believe he has spoken and that his radio career is over… by his choice.
