Hmm…KDKA-AM now eighth with no end to its free fall in sight. How the mighty have fallen (but listen for a while and you understand why)!

The most interesting show, I think, is Mike Pintek’s and he is on in the middle of the day. Marty Griffin is way to holy for the rest of, and the morning show rarely has much substance when I switch it on.

Marty’s morning show is like the old Mortan Downey Junior show…In your face and usually wrong….no-one wants to be a guest on the show, because they’ll be attacked…and the evening guy is just plain boring….Mike Pintek is all they have anymore…

And you wonder what the overnight numbers are like now that it is a syndicated program?
I can’t stand Marty Griffin—he’s always begging people to “listen” or give more attention to him. He’s terrible on radio and even worse on tv.

Another reason for KDKA’s slide might be technical. Out here in the hinterlands (I’m 50-60 miles south of da Burgh), the daytime signal deteriorated years ago, and is nothing like its former self. At night, KDKA is hopeless, a mass of noise mostly from WBZ’s I-SLOP. (Digital radio is too bad & too late to save AM.) Add the technical decline to boring/irrelevant programming and KDKA’s ratings are no surprise.

KDKA is still a very good radio station. Yes, by all accounts, Mike Pintek is the best talent they have but I disagree with the others. Marty is passionate about his beliefs. And Mangino, who does the 6p till 10p slot, I feel hosts a great show as well. @ Fred, if you are looking to get a better signal or perhaps a stronger AM signal down there, may I suggest that if you have an android, or iPhone, etc you can download a free app called Radio.com. You can use this app to listen to KDKA or any other Clear Channel station nation wide. Just an idea as I use it all the time when I am away from any radio source.
