Tolo dumped from Seattle station

Pittsburgh: Alert Reader Dave informed us that former KDKA Sports host Thor Tolo is out of a job in Seattle. Tolo was let go from KDKA in 2004 just before landing at KGNW - a religious station. KGNW is owned by Salem Communications who opted to go "in a different direction" with the "Live in Seattle" program. Tolo says he has no regrets and hopes to stay in the business somewhere in the Puget Sound region.

Oh, who can forget Thor’s “I sat down to talk with …” shtick? You know, the one where he’d open with that line and use the same sound bit that was gathered by several other reporters who had tape recorders.

And it is not likely he will ever live down his reference to “the late Bill Virdon.”
