"AM 740" changes call letters
Erie-Meadville: News from Scott Fybush over at Fybush.com reports that the new owner of "AM 740" (now called "Zoomer Radio") Moses Znaimer has recently changed the call letters from CHWO to CFZM. I had initially had the new calls letters in the wrong order as CFMZ. Our thanks go out to Brian Smith at the "Ontario DX Association" for updating me on this. (http://www.odxa.on.ca/cfzm) The new call letters were put in place in order to be similar to his other Toronto area station CFMZ "Classical 96.3." Thus far, no other changes have taken place at the Pop Standards / Oldies station which has filled the void in several areas where other such stations have changed formats.Readers’ Forum
CHWO AM740 is now CFZM ‘Zoomer Radio’. Classical 96.3 is CFMZ. Both refer to the owner, Moses Znaimer. And yes, the format is much the same.

Some of AM 740’s lineup changes are in the works as we speak. Bill Gable now anchors a morning team that calls itself “The Happy Gang,” and is an improvement over Norm Edwards’ one-man show (now on from 2-7).
The air talent schedule is kind of screwy, with some talent working 6-hour shifts and others doing 1-hour programs aside from their main shifts (Eva D does a 1-hour late night show and also is part of “The Happy Gang”). And instead of music, 740 runs a 3-hour financial advice show that precedes Frank Proctor’s No. 1’s show (Proctor then goes on for 3 hours after Edwards).
I’m guessing there is a lot of prerecorded stuff on. I know for a fact Gable used to prerecord his 10-3 show on Saturdays before the big changes came about.
By the large, the music and nostalgia remains the same. And those of us who tune in like it like that.
