WNEO digital conversion to begin this week

Youngstown: As reported a few months back, WNEO 45 would become the first station near Youngstown to shut off it's analog signal before the deadline in February. The work towards going all digital is to begin on November 10th according to the website at http://www.westernreservepublicmedia.org. On November 10th, WNEO will temporarily shut down it's digital signal on DT 46 in order to make signal improvements and move to DT 45. From November 12th - 19th, WNEO will keep it's analog signal on channel 45 on the air. On November 19th, WNEO will shut down it's analog signal permanently after signing on in May of 1973. Those who have cable or Directv will still be able to watch WNEO since both take a fiber feed of the station. Dish Network customers will lose WNEO for a couple of days since Dish only relies on an off air signal. They could use WNEO's translator, but I doubt that they would do that for only a couple of days. Speaking of the translator, those in the Mahoning Valley who watch WNEO's translator W58AM on channel 58 will also be able to continue to watch WNEO over the air. WNEO is expected to sign back on with it's digital signal on November 21st with a better signal. All of this of course depends on weather conditions between November 10th and 21st and could take longer than expected. Update: "Ohio Media Watch" reports that WNEO will shut down their digital signal on Wednesday, November 12th instead of the 10th. It wasn't clear as to why there would be a delay, but it could possibility be weather related.
