Cullen heads to WAMO 860

Pittsburgh: The Radio-Info board, along with Monday's Tom Taylor column are awash with buzz that Pittsburgh's "Lone Liberal", Lynn Cullen, will be returning to the airwaves this month. We hope she gets a decent time slot since WAMO-AM's (860) nighttime signal isn't the best in the world.

Is Lynn Cullen any relation to game show legend Bill Cullen, another famous personality with Pittsburgh roots?
Richard Emery - March 03, 2009 at 2:05 pm

Er, no. Lynn’s maiden name was Miller, and she’s from Green Bay, Wis.

So is Cullen just a “stage name”? No relation to Bill Cullen’s family, even by marriage? (Thanks for the info!)
Richard Emery - March 03, 2009 at 3:00 pm

No. Cullen kept her married name.
Valerie - March 03, 2009 at 4:55 pm

Was Bill Cullen’s last name actually Cullen?
Frank - March 03, 2009 at 8:29 pm

Welcome back, Lynn. I hope this means her show will also be replayed on PCNC, as was the case with her most recent radio stint.
Rick - March 04, 2009 at 10:18 am

She’ll be on from 5pm-7pm. If the signal is weak, you can listen online.
Peg - March 04, 2009 at 7:39 pm

Yes, that was Bill Cullen’s real name.

At least there is a better alternative than listening to Ida Lynn Miller Cullen. I will continue to listen to Mike Pintek on KDKA.

Lynn was married to someone with the last name of Cullen and divorced but kept his name. He was a lawyer and she worked for lawyers at the time. She has not been married since then but has an adopted South American son who is around the age of 16.

Bill Cullen was from Pittsburgh – that was his real name and he had more talent in his little finger than ….. well, you know what I mean.

I am absolutely thrilled at having Lynn back on the air, and looking forward to listening in the afternoons. I may stick around to check out Bev after. I’ve not listened to her before.

Now, wouldn’t it be nice to have Doug Hoerth back on Sunday night on 3WS?
Mike Smalley - March 07, 2009 at 08:21 am

It’s too bad Doug Hoerth isn’t on radio any more.

He certainly is a much better choice to listen to than Lynn Cullen ever was or will be.
Doug Hoerth Fan - March 07, 2009 at 2:44 pm

Amen to the Doug Hoerth Fan comment. We need to petition Doug to come back and do the Sunday night diner on 3WS. Radio is just not the same since he’s been off the air
Chris - March 09, 2009 at 09:34 am

I can’t wait to hear Lynn again. I certainly have missed listening to her, as I know all of her fans have.
