Callsign madness! WDDZ takes over 1250

January 3, 2011 Off By Eric O'Brien

Since the roll-over to Radio Disney, 1250 AM has been IDed as WDDZ. Turns out that Disney moved the calls from a former Disney outlet at 550 AM in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Salem has purchased that station and will bring it back to the air later this year. Scott Fybush suggests that WEAE would be a good set of calls for the Pawtucket station as it is expected to simulcast a lot of Salem’s WEZE-AM (590) in Boston. One thing Scott forgot to point out was that WEZE-FM was in Pittsburgh when Salem first owned 104.7 before flipping it to the original WORD-FM in 1991.

Meanwhile WWCS-AM 540 airs a looped announcement telling listeners where to find Radio Disney. Still no word on plans for a format.
