Channel Repack

Remember when WQED announced the sale of its channel spectrum for $9.9 million? Now the complete list of channel changes have been released. This is the digital over the air signal which will never appear any different as, of course, channels identify themselves by their analog signals that went off the air in 2009. has the list for Pittsburgh here. KDKA-TV will not be moving from its DT signal at 25, nor will sister WPCW be moving from 11. While WQED will move from its analog/digital signal at 13 to channel 2, former sister and WINP will move from digital 38 to 16 where its DT signal will match its analog ID. “Confused? You won’t be after this episode of Soap!”

Oldies return to WMCE-FM

Readers on the Mercyhurst Jazz Facebook Page were notified yesterday that changes were afoot on 88.5 FM. They found out today at Noon that after six years, oldies returned to the FM signal. But jazz won’t be going away from Erie. In fact it will continue online-only with streams of Pub Music and Jazz Werks as has been heard on the FM signal.

According to Dan Geary (AKA – “Captain Dan”), WMCE-FM (88.5) will simulcast sister WYNE-AM (1530) which has carried oldies over the airwaves (and online) over the last several years. And soon the WYNE callsign will go away   making room for WMCE-AM.
