Chedwick throws first pitch

April 26, 2011 Off By Eric O'Brien

Radio legend Porky Chedwick threw out the first pitch at the April 23 Pirate game against the *Washington Nationals. Chedwick’s friend, Ed Weigle said, “I can assure you that he’s one tough son of a gun. You’ve got to admit, being 93 and mostly blind, on a wet field, he made a good pitch–with such vigor that it knocked him backwards…” The “Daddio of the Raddio” did fall backwards after making the pitch but was able to make it back up unscathed.

Here’s a YouTube clip of the festivities.
