Clear Channel lays off… again

All Access reports this afternoon that Clear Channel is at it again – layoffs. Most of the cuts seem to be in major markets but as of now, Pittsburgh cluster employees seem to be safe.

“Like every successful business, our strategy continues to evolve as we move forward as a company; this creates some new jobs, and unfortunately eliminates others. These are never easy decisions to make,” said a statement released by the company.

One long-timer let go from WEBN in Cincinnati is afternoon host Jay Gilbert. Folks may know him better as “Uncle Jay” – the man who “explains the news”. No word on whether or not he will return to posting the news editorials which he stopped producing regularly in 2011.

UPDATE: PBRTV has received a hint that WKST-FM (96.1) APD/PM Drive host, Flick, was part of the latest round of cuts. A check to the KISS-FM website shows that Flick’s page has been removed.
