CNN Radio News to end; NBC Radio News to debut

March 1, 2012 Off By Eric O'Brien

Dial Global announced today that they will no longer carry CNN Radio News and it will no longer be produced for U.S. radio distribution, effective April 1. CNN produced the radio news at their headquarters in Atlanta and made it available on a non-exclusive basis. Instead, most CNN Radio affiliates will transition over to “NBC News Radio”, a new venture announced this morning. Locally WJAS-AM (1320) carries the CNN news at the top of each hour. No word on whether the station will carry the new NBC venture, but if they do, it would be a “homecoming” of sorts as WJAS was NBC owned-and-operated in the 1960s and early 1970s.
