Cox Media Group is selling several radio and TV stations after purchasing four television stations – two in Jacksonville, Florida and two in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Locally, Cox has owned WPXI-TV (11) for several decades and while there are no plans to sell it, regional sister stations WTOV-TV (9) Steubenville, Ohio and WJAC-TV (6) Johnstown, Pennsylvania are on the market. Cox acquired the two stations in 2000 cornering the market on area NBC affiliates. Twenty-seven radio stations and three other television stations are a part of the sale. Cox plans to focus on larger and fewer markets.
