WPXI-TV (11) announced today that Stephen Cropper will become the new Chief Meteorologist effective July 25. His on-air presence will be Monday-Friday 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. as well as the 10:00 p.m. newscast on WPGH-TV 53. His first on-air appearance is expected to be in early August.

Ray Carter, VP/GM at WPXI says, “Stephen is an excellent meteorologist and someone we’ve admired for many years,” adding that his “superb forecasting skills and easy on-air presence” are welcome at Channel 11.

“I’m excited to be a part of a dependable, trustworthy team with a commitment to severe weather coverage and easy to understand forecasting for our area,” Cropper said.

Mr. Cropper takes over for Julie Bologna who announced her second departure earlier this week citing differences with management over scheduling work versus family life. Meanwhile Cropper spent 16 years at crosstown rival WTAE-TV (4).
