Dave James assumes morning news anchor role at WSHH and WJAS

Radio news veteran Dave James has joined both the Wish 99.7 and 1320 WJAS morning shows as news anchor. The move adds another well-known voice to the Renda Broadcasting Corporation’s stable of personalities and allows Chris Shovlin to return to full-time status as both stations’ Director of Marketing and Promotion. Shovlin remains the host of his own music show on WJAS during the afternoon drive (3:00 – 7:00 p.m.).

Chris has served as the News Anchor for both morning shows, hosted the afternoon drive on WJAS, and maintained his Marketing and Promotions role simultaneously since former morning news anchor Hank Baughman retired nearly three years ago. Additionally he anchored the news for Renda’s Greensburg outlet, WHJB-FM (107.1). Outside of Renda’s stations, Shovlin is the play-by-play announcer for Robert Morris University’s football and basketball teams as well as the host of the coach’s talk shows (carried on WBGG-AM 970 ESPN). He also does p-b-p for xFinity’s TV High School Game of the Week

Dave James took over the WHJB news in 2012 and joined the other stations in late August when Shovlin’s sports assignments began. James was a fixture in the KDKA-AM (1020) newsroom for several decades. His joining Renda’s Pittsburgh station reunites him with Jack Bogut who hosts the “Bogut in the Morning Show” on WJAS.

This week, Renda’s stations also changed the channel as to where they get their weather forecasts. WPXI’s “Severe Weather Team” again provides the forecast for both stations. The last several years have seen weather coverage provided by WTAE’s “Weather Watch 4” crew.
