DirecTv: Impasse with Hearst & Cox

Pittsburgh DirecTv customers are without two of the “big three” networks as of the new year. The negotiations for renewing the carriage contracts for Hearst stations (parent of WTAE) and Cox stations (parent of WPXI). Cable/Satellite companies often spar with local channels over the fees associated with carrying the local affiliates. Viewers of both stations saw message scrawls last week saying that it was possible that carriage may be lost.

Both stations are available over the air, Comcast, Verizon FiOS and Armstrong.
