Radio DJs Candy and Mike Long are still seeking those responsible for their son’s death on New Year’s Day 2012. 36-year-old Ronnie Long was found near his parents’ home in Port Vue. He died the following day as a result of blunt force trauma to the head. The Longs, who host an oldies program on WEDO-AM (810 McKeesport), are offering a $5000 reward to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest and conviction. They’ve also posted a billboard seen just as one enters McKeesport on Walnut Street. Money for the reward was raised at a benefit dance at McKeesport’s Palisades in October 2012.

Meanwhile, The McKeesport Daily News reports that the Longs have received a letter from someone identifying himself as “a friend”. In the letter, the writer said two men beat the victim at a bar (which has since been sold) in Liberty Borough and one of them, with the help of his son, took the victim and dropped him off along Glenn Avenue Extension in Port Vue. Other stories have come about as well, but this story seems to be the one the Longs are going with as they hope the writer comes forward. “It’s a pain that will never, ever go away,” says Candy Long. “Help us, that is the main thing.”
