Former sportscaster John Duffy could face more than five years in federal prison after pleading guilty yesterday to possession of child pornography.
The 47-year-old former weekend sports anchor on WEAE (1250), who also worked as a local correspondent for the national ESPN Radio network, entered his plea yesterday before Senior U.S. District Judge Alan N. Bloch, according to the Post-Gazette. Duffy will be sentenced on Jan. 22. He is currently in federal custody.
Prosecutors allege that Duffy was sharing child pornography with other computer users via the Internet. When arrested in May, prosecutors said, Duffy had more than 40 video files on his computer that showed children engaged in sex acts.
