FCC approves sale of WDUQ

Despite the public outcry regarding the sale of WDUQ-FM (90.5), the Federal Communications Commission has approved the sale. According to the FCC, most of the “several objections” filed by the public were concerned with the change of format. “Although the commission recognizes that WDUQ’s program has attracted a devoted listenership, it is well-settled policy that the commission does not scruitinize or regulate programming, nor does it take potential changes in programming formats into consideration in reviewing assignment applications.”

The sale is expected to be completed within 30 days during which a new callsign may be announced.
