Fedko announces retirement

November 29, 2010 Off By Eric O'Brien

After 23 years on WPXI, Sports Director John Fedko has announced his retirement. Fedko started his sportscasting career at Channel 11 in October, 1987 and he soon introduced a new coverage of high school football called “Skylights”. Although he will not retain his 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. anchoring duties, he will return each fall with his “Skylights” coverage.

Fedko had some other gimmicks on WPXI over the years including “The Fedko Zone” – a look at the gaffes in the sporting world from the prior week.

John Fedko was born in Lawton, Oklahoma and raised near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Before coming to WPXI, he worked in Odessa, Amarillo and Corpus Christi, Texas and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

No word on the date the retirement takes place.
