Former WPXI anchor Kelley Mitchell dies

Kelley Mitchell anchored WPXI’s “First Edition” 5:30 p.m. news during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. She also served the station as a general assignment reporter before leaving for Miami. Mitchell passed away on Sunday at the age of 58, the cause unknown. Mitchell worked at two Miami stations in her time there – WSVN-TV (7) and WPLG (10) where she had been most recently. Mitchell was well respected in the Miami market and will long be remembered for sharing publicly her battle with breast cancer in 2003.
