December 16, 2008 Off By Eric O'Brien

Hank Stohl, known for his children’s shows on KDKA-TV (2) and WTAE-TV (4) throughout the 50s and 60s, passed away late in the evening on December 15. He was 87. Stohl is remembered as being the “straight man” to a menagerie of puppets – most notably “Rodney & Knish”. Stohl was also an accomplished author and voice talent. Former Pittsburgh Press TV editor Ed Blank received the word from Stohl’s wife, Anita, in an email which was forwarded to PBRTV. Blank and KQV announcer P.J. Maloney remembered Stohl on the air earlier today.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Beinhauer’s Funeral Home in Dormont.
