HD programs outside of network offerings

I’m not too clear as to when this began, but I noticed that WKBN DT 27-1 (41) was airing the “Entertainment Tonight” / “Insider” hour in HD last night (Thursday). This is syndicated programming that is not coming directly from CBS but is usually recorded earlier to air in this case from 7-8pm. So it appears that WKBN is now recording and airing programs outside of what CBS offers in HD. I’ll keep an eye out to see if sister station WYTV DT 33-1 (36) is also airing “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy” in HD. Another HD program I caught was over this past weekend from WNEO DT 45-1 with a pledge program called “The Sound of Philadelphia” featuring R&B acts from the 60’s and 70’s. That program was also recorded in HD since most PBS stations air pledge fare at various times.
