Pittsburgh native Bobby Bennett has died. The 72-year-old had spent the last month or so in a coma after suffering a stroke. Bennett started his career at WAMO-AM (then at 860 Homestead) before relocating to Washington, DC and WOL-AM in 1968. While in DC he also worked at WTOP and WHUR. He also worked in the record industry, first for EMI and later IEP Records. He also programmed the Soul Street channel for XM Radio back in DC. Bennett and his wife, Connie retired to Florida a few years ago. Funeral arrangements are pending.
