On Wednesday, May 11, CBS Radio Pittsburgh will dedicate the new KDKA-AM (1020) newsroom to the memory of talk show host Fred Honsberger, whose 30-year career at KDKA began as an anchor/reporter and news director. Honsberger died on December 16, 2009. As part of the ceremony, a 30″ x 24″ bronze plaque bearing his image will be unveiled. The plaque was made by Pittsburgh-based Matthews International Corporation. Honsberger’s family and current KDKA personalities will be in attendance. Local dignitaries have been invited. The event, while open to the news media, is closed to the public.

Earlier this year, KDKA left its home of 50+ years at 1 Gateway Center and joined its FM sister stations (WDSY, WBZZ and KDKA-FM) at Foster Plaza 5 in Green Tree.
