KDKA spends weekend celebrating 90 years

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, you might want to plan a trip to the Senator John Heinz History Center as KDKA-AM (1020) will celebrate its 90th Anniversary. The open house is taking place at the museum’s Great Hall on Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, October 31 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. KDKA personalities past and present will sign autographs. A slide show will showcase station highlights from 1920 through present day. Visitors can also learn about KDKA’s beginnings in the museum’s “Pittsburgh: A Tradition of Innovation” exhibit.

KDKA’s anniversary celebration continues on Tuesday, November 2 (the actual anniversary date) with a live on-air and streaming online broadcast from the History Center. Marty Griffin, Robert Mangino and Rob Pratte will host 9:00 a.m.- Noon. Mike Pintek, Bill Rehkopf and Pratte will host noon – 3:00 p.m.

A special ticket discount will be available during the celebration. Two tickets for the History Center can be purchased for $10.20 and cannot be combined with any other offer. Discounts are for adult tickets only and cannot be used for the “Vatican Splendors” exhibit.
