Lokay heads to DC

November 10, 2015 Off By Eric O'Brien

Hometown pride Jim Lokay has spent the last few years at WCVB-TV (5) in Boston as a weekend anchor since leaving KDKA-TV. Now he’s headed to a different channel 5 – this time WTTG in Washington DC. Lokay will report news and sports for the station’s 5:00, 6:00, 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. broadcasts.

Lokay had this to say to the followers of his Jim Lokay TV Facebook page

I’m excited for many reasons, both personal and professional. They’re doing some great things at Fox 5, and it’s one of the few local newsrooms that’s truly willing and able to stretch the boundaries of creative storytelling. As a big sports fan, I’ll have the chance to report on some major stories down there as well.

And as I’ve said all along, it gives me a chance to be closer to my parents back in Pittsburgh. It’s a four-hour drive, which beats the constant back and forth via plane. I had the opportunity to stay put in Boston and do good things with a great station — but in the end, this won out.

A lot of you have asked if I was coming back to Pittsburgh. It’ll always be my home. But right now, I have a chance to do something new and innovative — and I can’t wait to get started. Plus, you’ll be seeing me a lot more anyway
