Clarke Ingram notes that WPYT-AM (660 Wilkinsburg) and its FM translator, W261AX (100.1 FM) signed on the airwaves today. The station is billing itself as “The New WAMO (pronounced Wham-O) -100″ although it doesn’t appear that they have adopted the heritage WAMO callsign yet. So far the station is music and sweepers saying, “Wham-O is back in the Burgh!” and “Pittsburgh’s Home for Hip Hop and R&B.
