Oldies coming back to WWOW 1360

Longtime Erie broadcaster Bill Shannon has recently purchased 50% of WWOW in nearby Conneaut, Ohio. The ownership on the FCC website is now listed as “Cause Plus Marketing, LLC.” It was previously owned by a group called “Walk On Water Radio”. On the http://radio.1360wwow.com/ website, there is an indication that the format will change from the current Catholic Talk format to Oldies which would occur in mid September according to Shannon. Bill also put Oldies (and the call letters) on North East station WYNE 1530 a few years back. That station is still Oldies with Captain Dan Geary now in charge of the Mercyhurst North East station. WWOW has had signal upgrades in recent years though Bill said on his Facebook post that there are still some issues with the 5,000 watt daytime signal that needs to be worked on. The format could get some listeners in Western Erie County as well as parts of Crawford County. WWOW had oldies a few years back with Scott Shannon’s “True Oldies Channel” network. I see this being an older leaning format that would be different than “Sweet Home Ashtabula” owned WZOO 102.5 with more of their focus on Classic Hits.
