Slim Bryant dies

KDKA-TV is reporting that former KDKA Radio host Slim Bryant died yesterday at St. Clair Hospital, he was 101. Bryant first appeared on KD in 1931 where he sang with his then decade-old band for the first time – “Slim Bryant and his Wildcats”. He told Dave Crawley in 2008, “August the 10th, 1940, we came here and we’ve been here ever since.” Bryant was also a part of Pittsburgh’s first television broadcast on WDTV-TV (3) from the Syria Mosque in January of 1949. He also received legendary status on KDKA-TV in the 1950s.
