Spaghetti Breakfast to honor Cigna

August 26, 2011 Off By Eric O'Brien

In 1983, KDKA-AM (1020) morning personality John Cigna began a station promotion that has since become quite the tradition. The station – and current morning hosts Larry Richert and John Shumway – will host the 28th Annual Spaghetti Breakfast on Friday, September 9. This will be the first time this event will be held without Cigna who passed away in May, and the station has plans to honor him. Station personalities and volunteers from the American Heart Association will serve penne pasta, sausage, bread and other fixings. Donations will be collected by Little Sisters of the Poor – a charity Cigna strongly supported. Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will collect canned goods and also receive the remaining supplies from the breakfast.
