The Trib and Ratings

News about the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review should come as little surprise to most people who have been following the rest of that story over recent months. Just ask the readers and former writers of The McKeesport Daily News who’ve gone without since December 31 of last year when The Trib had not found a buyer for the century+ old paper. Meanwhile they ceased home delivery of the Pittsburgh Trib earlier this year and now they intend, as of December 1… or so I’ve heard, will take it all-digital. That will leave the Westmoreland County edition (nee “Greensburg Tribune-Review”) in print as well as the Valley News Dispatch. Pittsburgh essentially becomes a “one-paper town” with the Post-Gazette as the only printed paper once the changes take effect. 106 lost their jobs a week after 95 others accepted buy-outs. These include several gifted writers whose talents will hopefully surface elsewhere.

The ratings came out on Wednesday…. WWSW (94.5)  and sister WDVE (102.5) switched places again with Double-double back at the top. WRRK (96.9) and KDKA-FM (93.7) pushed WKST (96.1) down to fifth just above WSHH (99,7).
