WBZZ Calls headed back to Pittsburgh

January 11, 2011 Off By Eric O'Brien

Radio Insight reports that the Albany station which recently held the WBZZ call letters dropped them earlier this month. CBS Radio has reportedly picked them up and they could be returning to the Pittsburgh region. It seems doubtful that the calls will return to 93.7, but the report suspects that the calls will end up on 100.7 which picked up some of the programming elements and personalities from the second incarnation of “B-94” when it changed to KDKA-FM last year. 100.7 is WZPT – a callsign it’s held since 1994 when it flipped to an all-70s format known as “The Point” – and is licensed to New Kensington.

UPDATE 1/13: CBS confirmed the callsign change effective 1/19 with no other changes being made.
