WTAE reporter Miele to leave station

WTAE-TV (4) Westmoreland County bureau chief Jennifer Miele will leave the station on July 29 as she takes on the role of Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Greensburg-based Excela Health. Miele, who has been with the station since 2004, was approached by the CEO of Excela back in March after she gave a talk regarding a recent miscarriage and the discovery of a tumor in her uterine lining.

Miele has been undergoing a regimen of chemotherapy as surgeries to remove the tumor failed. “It’s 100 percent curable, so I will be fine,” she tells the Post-Gazette. She adds the tumor is shrinking but also that having the treatments and having to do live reports at any given time makes things difficult. Still though, she doesn’t want to leave – especially with a year left on her current contract. However, the offer from Excela was too good to pass up.
