WTAE’s Burton out at the end of the year

Jon Burton will leave his sports anchor duties at WTAE-TV (4) the end of the month/year after eight years. While he does not have a new job lined up, he describes his departure to the Post-Gazette as “by mutual decision, one we both feel good about.” WTAE’s GM Rick Henry says the position was eliminated “due to economic conditions.” Buyouts, job cuts and early retirements have been words heard frequently around the station lately. A replacement has not been named, but there will still be a sports segment.
