WWSW joins Christmas fold

WWSW-FM (94.5) joined in the Christmas cheer this morning making the temporary format switch through Christmas Day. Afternoon Drive personality Mike Frazer mentioned on the station’s Facebook page on Wednesday that many listeners were asking about the change.

To be fair, neither WSHH or WWSW were first to make the flip to Christmas. The six or eight people in the market with an HD Radio probably noticed that WLTJ HD4 flipped to all-Christmas back on November 1.

For what it’s worth, the first all-Christmas stunt in Pittsburgh occurred in 2003 when then-WJJJ-FM (104.7) flipped the format through the end of that year. At the other end, WPGB “FM News Talk” emerged.
