Public station WYEP-FM (91.3) announced today that Abby C. Goldstein will join the station as general manager effective November 14. Goldstein (right) is a veteran public radio executive with expertise in adult alternative programming. Most recently she served as the vice president for programming at New Hampshire Public Radio.

Ms. Goldstein is a graduate of Lamar University and began her career in 1986 at KVLU in Beaumont, Texas where  her mother was the membership director. From there she worked in television, advertising and commercial radio before moving to Dallas in 1989 to work at KERA-FM. She stayed there as an afternoon music host until 1995 when she left to work at other Dallas stations as well as other related industry positions. She returned to KERA in 2000 as program director for six years before moving on to New Hampshire Public Radio.

Goldstein’s familiarity with WYEP dates back to the work she did with adult alternative programming at KERA. “I’ve known WYEP for years as a tastemaker in the national music scene,” she said in a press release. “It has an amazing reputation and a fabulous staff and I’m honored to come on board as part of this wonderful team. And I’m excited to call Pittsburgh my new home.”
