Zippay passes away

The one-time manager of a couple of Mercer County-based stations, Albert Zippay, passed away on Sunday, December 26 in Amherst, Massachusetts at the age of 89 after a long illness. He was a life-long resident of Hermitage. For over 30 years, Zippay was General Manager of WFAR-AM (1470; now WLOA) where he hosted programs like “Soft Lights and Silver Shadows”, “Auction Man” and “Swap Shop”. He was also manager of WKTX-AM (830). Zippay was active in his community and was committed to programming serving the local community.
