Up in Erie, the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine has completed the $275,000 purchase of WMCE (88.5) from Mercyhurst effective July 9. LECOM had been operating the station under a Public Service Operating Agreement since March 1. Management brought back several well-known personalities who had been forced into retirement or other jobs when Mercyhurst changed their course of action. For instance, Captain Dan Geary is back in the weekday morning slot. LECOM will also use the non-comm station to promote the school and its affiliates. (ErieNewsNow)

Meanwhile, in Central Pennsylvania, Dave Shannon has been formally named station manager of WTRN (1340 Tyrone) – a position he’s held since February. Shannon has spent 42 years in broadcasting. WTRN is owned by Lightner Communications and has FM translators on 96.9 and 100.7 FM. (Dave Shannon)
