Amenta abruptly out; Kumanchik assumes top spot

Rob Owen reports in the Tribune-Review today that WPXI (11) morning anchor Katherine Amenta was let go following this morning’s broadcast. No reason has been given other than station management opted not to renew Amenta’s contract which was due to end in July. Although it’s possible it was a budget cut.

Last week, Audacy named 35-year KDKA Radio veteran P. J. Kumanchik as brand manager taking over for Dave LaBrozzi who announced an April retirement several weeks ago. Kumanchik, a Pittsburgh native, started at KDKA-AM in 1989 as part-time morning show producer for “John Cigna and the K-Team”.
