And then there were none …

Late in the afternoon on Friday, January 17, the last of the old KQV array was dropped. The current owner of the tower site, Vertical Bridge, tore the other four towers down late in the summer of 2019.

Vertical Bridge had issues keeping the lights on that Tower powered due to some electrical issues at the electric meter, according to Richard Hickey, contact for the tower site. PBRTV contacted Mr. Hickey last fall after KQV’s current owner, Broadcast Educational Communications Inc, had received phone calls about the tower lights.

At that time, Mr. Hickey told us, pending approval from Ross Township, they were going to build a new communication tower that would be under the height minimum for needing tower lights. When asked if approval should not be granted he said they would have modified the lone tower but that could have been an issue due to the age of the structure.

Broadcast Educational Communications Inc signed KQV back on the air on December 19, 2019 from its new tower site in North Versailles where it is diplexed with WEDO. The long time tower site in Ross Township was not a part of the sale agreement from Calvary to BCI in 2018.
