The Beaver County Times reported a short time ago that Beaver County Hall of Fame broadcaster, Bob Barrickman has died at age 67. Barrickman called games for three Super Bowls and over 70 state championships in 43 years of broadcasting. He was inducted into the county’s sports hall of fame in 2008 and was known for his unique on-air delivery.

After completing his communications degree at Slippery Rock University, he was hired by Guy Junker at WMBA (1460 Ambridge) in 1980. After seven years he moved over to WBVP (1230 Beaver Falls) as color commentator under fellow hall of famer, Chris Shovlin. Barrickman took over the full-time play-by-play roll in 1992 and continued that role over the last 30 years even after the two stations were owned by the same company.
