CMG and Verizon FiOS come to terms
February 7, 2026For Verizon Fios subscribers in Pittsburgh it has almost been two full months since WPXI, PCNC, and METv have been available on the system. That was due to an impasse between Verizon and WPXI parent company Cox Media Group. Verizon claimed Cox’s raise for retransmission fees was too significant.
As of today, the two companies have come to terms and FiOS customers should be receiving notice about a return to service, if they haven’t already.

This is why I use an antenna to receive my local TV channels. I am constantly surprised at the number of people who don’t realize TV comes into your house over the airwaves for free. You just need an antenna.
If everybody did what Log Cabin Bill does the local stations would go bankrupt sooner rather than later. Cable per-subscriber fees now comprise a significant part of their revenue streams. Probably rivaling ad revenue at this point I would guess.
