November 23, 2020 Off By Eric O'Brien

WPXI-TV anchor Peggy Finnegan has announced her retirement effective December 18. Finnegan joined the station in 1990 and has been paired with anchor David Johnson ever since. Finnegan’s decision was based on staying connected with loved ones even if masked and socially distanced as is the case now with the pandemic. “In the balance between work and life, the scale has shifted decidedly to life. I look forward to sharing more time with my family and dear friends.,” she said.

In the 30 years that Finnegan has been with WPXI , she has covered many historic stories including the crash of flight 427 near Pittsburgh International, September 11th, The Gulf War, and many sporting event trophies and wins.

Anchor Lisa Sylvester will take over the 5 PM slot and continue to join Johnson at the desk at 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM as well as the 10:00 PM news on WPGH-TV.
