UPDATE: KDKA Radio has reported since this story was published that Marty is feeling much better after a dose of steroids, antibiotics an Tamiflu. As of Thursday evening he had been moved out of ICU and might even be back on the air on Monday.

Pittsburgh Patch’s Eric Heyl reports today that KDKA (1020) host Marty Griffin has suffered a setback in his cancer battle and was admitted to Shadyside Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit on Wednesday. Griffin announced in September the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma of the throat believed to be caused by HPV.

Griffin, who recently started a new venture called Sparkt, said that after his radiation treatment on Wednesday, he felt wobbly and spiked a fever of 103.7. He is being treated with several drugs including Tamiflu in case it is influenza.

Marty has been keeping a video diary of his treatments and progress. Here he is in his own words.
