Iannotti retires

July 25, 2019 Off By Eric O'Brien

After 37 years and approximately 11,000 stories, Ralph Iannotti will retire from KDKA-TV. The 74-year-old tells the Post-Gazette that the decision is his own. His final report comes during the 11:00 p.m. news on July 26. Then it’s off to travel and recreation.

Over the years Iannotti has covered some big stories including:

  • The 2000 strangulation death of 11-year-old Scott Drake by a homeless man on the North Side.
  • The 1985 disappearance of 8-year-old Cherrie Mahan in Butler County.
  • Profiling Princess Ileana of Romania, who founded an Orthodox convent in Ellwood City and became a nun.

Given that he has covered as many stories as he has, it’s not bad for a guy who intended on only staying here 3 years!
