July 24, 2018 Off By Eric O'Brien

The Valley News Dispatch reports that 57-year broadcast veteran Bob Tatrn has died at age 78. Tatrn spent nearly 25 years at the microphone of WKPA (1150 New Kensington) where he woke many a listener in the Alle-Kiski Valley.

But he was best known for over 50 years worth of high school sports broadcasts – 41 of those years with broadcast partner Joe Falsetti. Together they announced scholastic football, baseball and basketball games. They also hosted “Sportsline” on local cable until AT&T (now Comcast) took over the system in 2001. Falsetti died in 2006.

Tatrn recently authored “Bob Tatrn’s Sports Minutes Vol. I & II” and was heard hosting sports nostalgia programs on WAVL (910 Apollo) and Comcast cable system.
