In memoriam: Vicki Cohill

The sadness continues as we report yet another death in the market. After a brave and long fight against ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Vicki Cohill has died. She not only battled the disease on a personal level, but did everything in her power to push for approval of more treatments for this devastating disease.

Cohill had worked at several stations in town including WLTJ (92.9) where she hosted “Light Rock; Girl Talk” on weekday evenings. Prior to her diagnosis she was the afternoon news anchor for the now-defunct American Urban Radio Networks.

She was an avid user of social media, keeping in touch with her friends through Facebook with updates on her health which were often met with messages of encouragement and celebration. In one of her last posts on Facebook, dated May 31, 2025, she said, “I think if I had to choose between the use of my voice or my right arm, I would choose my arm. That way I could love on the animals and give hugs to people. Not to mention itch my nose!” It was the end of ALS Awareness Month.
