In Memory: Marion Sylvester “Bud” Del Vecchio (AKA – Del Taylor)

Bud Del Vecchio, also known as Del Taylor, has died. He was 89. Del Vecchio joined WTAE-TV (4) when the station signed on in 1958. He served as a booth announcer during live station breaks; did weekend weather on the late-night news; hosted a program called “Bandstand” – a 1960s teen dance show; he was the host of a public affairs program called “Community Outreach in the 1970s; but he’s probably best known as the host of “Dialing for Dollars”. He remained with the station until 1980.

Prior to his work at WTAE, Del Vecchio hosted “Fontana’s Polka Kings on WTRF-TV (7) in Wheeling and worked at WLWO in Dayton, Ohio and WHLL in Wheeling.

Surviving are a daughter, two sons, neices, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
