Is Forever coasting into Oblivion?
October 20, 2025Alert reader Sam emailed the mailbag the other day alerting me of some changes at Forever Media’s Froggy and Pickle stations. Both sets of stations (there are more than one of each) are live and local in the mornings and using syndicated music from Westwood One during the remainder of the day.
Froggy stations WOGG (94.9 Oliver) and WOGI (104.3 Moon Township) have Danger working mornings and hosts from Westwood One’s Mainstream Country. (You probably noticed the “normal” host names and not those that make you think of frogs!
Pickle stations WKPL (92.1 Ellwood City) and WPKL (99.3 Uniontown) have Kalen Boyd doing mornings locally and hosts from Westwood’s Classic Hits format – including Pittsburgh’s own John Summers – taking the rest of the day.
A.R. (Alert Reader) Sam thinks the stations may be sold at any time now. It wouldn’t surprise us.

I hate that Katie was let go. Though nothing surprises me in local radio, shedding staff doesn’t necessarily mean a sale. Unfortunately the owner’s slice of the pie must stay the same size even in lean times, and this is one surefire way to make sure it does.
No, actually I kind of agree with the fact that the stations could be put up for sale in the not-too-distant future. Forever has been “selling off” quite a bit of late… locally they’ve basically handed over two area stations to Educational Media, and over in the Ohio Valley, one or two have gone to The River Network. I’m not sure that they’ll ever cease to exist, but they will probably be a lot leaner sooner or later.
Forever Broadcasting may cease to exist? Better call Lionel Hutz, the shopping mall attorney from The Simpsons. After all he won his false advertising lawsuit against the producers of the movie The Neverending Story.
