Kittanning and Butler Radio Stalwart Dies

February 2, 2023 Off By Ken Hawk

A longtime fixture in Butler and Armstrong County radio has passed away.

G. Earl Sadlon began his career at WBUT Radio, his hometown, as news director and announcer until moving to WACB in Kittanning in the 1950s. He became general manager in the 1960s and maintained this position until the station was sold to Nicholas Enterprises in 1982.

Sadlon then left radio and became Public and Community Relations Coordinator at Alltel’s (now Windstream) Kittanning office. He retired from this position in 1993, shortly before that office’s closure.

Sadlon died on January 13, 2023 at the age of 95.
